I’m not sure when I grew to dislike this trick-or-treating holiday. After all, I do looove chocolate.
Perhaps, I’m uncomfortable pretending to be something I’m not? In the past, I was good at deceiving myself by saying was “fine” when it was not! Today, I credit my refreshing honesty to years of living the spiritual principles and common decency guidelines spelled out in the 12-Steps.
One thing I do know is a Halloween mask can never disguise how I feel inside. As another Halloween rolls around and I continue to take personal inventory I find I do like who I am becoming one day at a time.
What about you? Do you have similar experiences in making-believe? If so, I pray you find a program where you can be freed from pretending to be someone you’re not. Step up and affirm the beautiful truth about yourself. You are beautiful in His sight.
“… and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32 ESV).
