Just because April, Alcohol Awareness Month, draws to a close, doesn’t mean we have to stop inquiring into the behavior caused by the disease of addiction. And that includes the “dis”ease of codependency.

For instance, the following three-minute video reveals an interesting insight that states addiction begins with pain—and ends in even more pain.

For those of us who cannot understand why our loved one, “Just doesn’t stop drinking,” this video may help enlighten us as to the pain they live with day after day.

Today we say goodbye to the 4th month of 2018, but I will continue to practice the 4th Step by taking a searching and fearless moral inventory of myself. In the process, I hope to grow in the wisdom to know what I can change—and the only person I can change is me!

For the sick and suffering addicts, I will continue to pray and carry this message of hope for their hurting hearts.

If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath (Psalm 34:18 MSG).
