Everything that happens has happened before; nothing is new, nothing under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9 CEV).
Tired of the same old excuses, relapses, promises we’ve made to ourselves, and promises from others that turned to disappointments. So what else is new?
To begin with, today is the first day of a new month. May—a month whose promise of spring never fails.
Each day we live to see a new sunrise we can make the decision to make all things new again. I’m not saying it will be easy. I am saying if we believe in ourselves and boldly push ahead we will make all things new again.
A new meeting. A new support team. A new healthy friend to help us cope. A new attitude. A new relationship with our Higher Power. One step at a time. One new day at a time. A new beginning.
Still, insist there is nothing new under the Sun? I say, “Oh yes there is.” Life is not all smoke and mirrors. Life is believing in each new tomorrow.
Smoke, nothing but smoke … There’s nothing to anything—it’s all smoke. What’s there to show for a lifetime of work, a lifetime of working your fingers to the bone? One generation goes its way, the next one arrives, but nothing changes—it’s business as usual for old planet earth. The sun comes up and the sun goes down, then does it again, and again—the same old round (Ecclesiastes 1:2-5MSG).
