Remember: A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving (2 Corinthians 9:7 MSG).

Have you noticed, there are times when caring for others gets out of hand and turns into enabling? Doing for others what they can do for themselves may rob them of their self-confidence and dignity.

And if you’re like me, my martyr mode takes over. That’s when I become resentful and complain about all I have to do for someone else. What kind of cheerful giver does that make me?

Today, on give something away day, how about we consider sharing something that lifts the soul . . .

A smile

A gentle touch

Hope

An ear to hear.

Like the 5 loaves and the 2 fish,

when you give goodness away,

you’ll discover there’s plenty more where that came from!

Step 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
