Our bodies are composed of four distinct parts—physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Of the four, the most underdeveloped component is …?

A. Physical

B. Mental.

C. Emotional

D. Spiritual

If you guessed D spiritual development is the element in need of an upswing, you are correct.

One reason is some people hear “spiritual” and mistake it for “being religious.” Spirituality is not a religion! It is a process of caring enough about ourselves to cultivate a sense of peace and purpose in our soul.

In the June 1st reading of the devotional, My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers warns, “It is much easier to do something than to trust in God; we see the activity and mistake panic for inspiration.”

Evidence that our spiritual base may be suffering can be determined by our minute-to-minute manic activity levels. Could our lack of spiritual strength and be the reason we act out and avoid taking the first Step? I admit, I often went into manic-panic mode rather than let go and let God.

It takes a healthy sense of spiritual infilling to Step out and —

  1. Admit
  2. Believe
  3. Decide
  4. Search within
  5. Disclose
  6. Stand Ready
  7. Be Humble
  8. Willingly
  9. Make amends
  10. Know right from wrong
  11. Pray and meditate
  12. Practice what I preach

He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired … Isaiah 40:31 (MSG).
