No, the big D does not stand for Dallas, Diane, Disney, Dreams, or Dessert.
D is for Denial and the Dark incidents we chose to Disregard.
Like me, do you:
Daydream and
Escape to
Never-never land where
Ignorance is bliss and we
Acquiesce to the demands of others.
Lying to ourselves by refusing to believe what we know is true.
In our fooling ourselves world – – –
Denial does not want us to admit that we are powerless over the addicts in our life.
Denial prevents us from acknowledging that we are as addicted to our loved ones as they are to their Drug of choice.
Denial never wants us to act on what we know is true—that we, too, have a problem.
Denial wants us to believe that the Daily Drama will soon end, but until we get help, our frenzied lifestyles will not improve.
Denial is Deadly self-Deception.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves (James 1:22 NLT).
